In an effort to ensure the highest standards of conduct among REALTORS®; The National Association of REALTORS®, State REALTOR® Associations, Local REALTOR® Boards, Political Leadership and Industry Leaders have established a set of guidelines to be followed by REALTORS® and enforced by Local Boards of REALTORS® throughout this country.

handshakeWe, The Brooklyn Board of REALTORS®, support this effort and are committed to, aggressively, enforcing the standards put forth by the National, State and Local Leadership so that we, as Brooklyn REALTORS® may continue to enjoy a reputation for uncompromised Ethical Standards.

It is with these thoughts in mind that we present to you, our valued members and members of the general public, the resources included within this section of our Web Site.

The title "Real Estate Agent" is not synonymous with "REALTOR®". There are definitive differences between the two titles. Those differences reside in the values, ethics, training and educational standards that REALTORS® are committed to.

It is for the reasons stated above that when shopping for a home; your first acquisition is the REALTOR® that will help you find that home. Take your time in choosing your REALTOR®. Your future depends on your choice.

Members of The Brooklyn Board of Realtors are also members of the N.Y.S. Association of Realtors (NYSAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). They are governed by a Code of Ethics that they are, strictly, held accountable to. They have training requirements as dictated by NAR standards as well as State and Local educational requirements.

Members of TBBOR, NYSAR and NAR are subject to NAR's Ethics and Arbitration guidelines. This means that if a dispute arises; you need only file a complaint through TBBOR whose mediators then mitigate a fair and equitable solution for both parties. Non-members (Real Estate Agents that are not members of TBBOR, NYSAR and NAR) are not held to the same standards as our members. Real Estate Agents that are not REALTORS® are, often, referred to as Licensees. If a dispute arises concerning a Licensee; your only option is to litigate through the courts; an expensive, stressful and time consuming proposition.

With a mission as critically important as helping you find your family's new home why wouldn't you choose a REALTOR®.
